Community Impact

A hero in uniform and in spirit, Deputy Coleman’s bravery was evident when he rescued a toddler from a Hastings fire in 2015, an act of courage that added to his commendations. As a board member of the Hope Pavilion Boys Home, he steers the future of at-risk youth with unwavering commitment and hands-on mentorship.

Deeply rooted in his hometown, he’s a Sunday school teacher and a proactive community builder, having initiated the Police Athletic League football program in 1990. He’s coached a range of sports, instilling discipline and teamwork in the young residents of Hastings, Flagler Estates, and Armstrong.

Family and Faith

Married for over 30 years to his wife, Cherl, they share a large and loving family of 7 children and 14 grandchildren. Grounded in his Pentecostal faith, Deputy Coleman’s service is a reflection of his religious values and his belief in the power of community.

About Deputy Anthony Coleman

Deputy Anthony Coleman, a native of Palatka, FL, is a proud alumnus of Hastings High School (’83). An accomplished athlete, he claimed the state title for the 100-meter dash in 1982 and received a track scholarship to Edward Waters College. His academic and athletic pursuits led him to complete law enforcement training at St. Augustine Technical Academy and further his education at Vincennes University.

With over 30 years of service at the St. Johns Sheriff’s Office, Deputy Coleman has dedicated two decades to shaping the youth as a resource deputy, coach, and mentor. He’s most notably connected with the students of Pedro Menendez High School and has impacted lives across various institutions, including Gaines Alternative School and Murray and Gamble Rogers middle schools.
